COMMITMENT PROFILE Milwaukee Rufus King class of 2017 shooting guard Jordan Poole greatly enjoyed an Oct. 17 unofficial visit to Michigan, but that trip wasn't what sold him on the Wolverines. The 6-3 four-star, whom Rivals.com ranks as the No. 104 junior nationally, actually knew a week before the re- turn visit he was going to pledge, and he waited until several days after to publicly announce. Poole, previously in town for a Sept. 26 unofficial visit for the BYU football weekend, saw enough the first time around to know he wanted to be a Wolverine. "I felt like it was the right fit. I had made my decision the week before the [Oct. 17] Michigan State football game," Poole said. "I had actually decided then that I wanted to go to Michigan. I just kept it low a little bit. I told the coaches privately on that Saturday during the Michigan State game." Poole talked it over with his family before offering his pledge. The aca- demic presentation was one of the big things that sold his mother. "She had to make sure I would be set for when I get out of college and have a degree — to make sure I'm taking the right courses. She made sure that their academics standpoint was down pat," Poole said, noting he wanted to major in psychology, sports broadcasting or veterinary studies. "The whole visit was great. I hung out with a lot of the 2016 commitments … they were all up there so I was chat- ting with them, talking to them and watching the game. I had a good con- versation with the coaches when I told them. "What really made me decide early was it was just the best fit. When you have something like that, you don't want to pass up a great opportunity. I just felt like everything was right. "Thinking about it, I decided I was ready to get it out of the way so I can focus on winning a state champion- ship this year. I'm ready to get on a Big Ten weight program, and I'll have two years to get my body right." Poole started lifting weights this summer, and soon he'll talk to U-M Milwaukee Guard Jordan Poole Is U-M's First 2017 Hoops Pledge Rivals.com ranks Poole as a four-star recruit and the No. 104 junior nationally.
