In 2013-14, Hagelin enjoyed a 12-point 25-game playoff run in helping the Rangers to the Stanley Cup Finals. New York would lose 4-1 to the Los Angeles Kings, but three of the five games went to over- time. "That was obviously the pinnacle of being a hockey player and ev- erything about it just got amped up to another level with it being New York versus Los Angeles, East Coast versus West Coast," said Hagelin, who had a goal and an assist in the finals. "It's been hard that I've been to two Frozen Fours and a Stanley Cup, and have lost all of them, but I know how difficult it is just to get there. "It gives me confidence that I'll be back and will have another chance to win it this time." That would make for a satisfying final chapter in his fairytale. ❏ Michigan Accomplishments: Played in 171 games from 2008-11, scoring 61 goals and adding 91 assists for 152 points … Led the team in points in both his junior (a career-high 50) and senior seasons (49) … Had a career- high 19 goals in 2009-10 … Finished with a career plus/minus of plus-79 … Was named the CCHA's Best Defensive Forward and was a first-team all- conference selection and second-team All-American in 2011 … Team captain in 2011 led U-M to a CCHA regular-season title and the NCAA championship game (Michigan lost 3-2 in overtime). Michigan Memory: "On Senior Night, they played the Swedish National Anthem at Yost, and I remember getting goose bumps. I had a lot of friends and family in the crowd that night, and we beat Western Michigan in over- time on a goal I scored. That game, the two Frozen Fours and The Big Chill are probably the four games I remember the most." Professional Accomplishments: A 2007 NHL Draft sixth-round pick … Appeared in 64 games for the New York Rangers his rookie year, scoring 14 goals with 24 assists and a plus/minus of plus-21 … Spent four seasons in New York, playing in 266 regular-season games from 2012-15 and scoring 58 goals with 72 assists … Played in the 2013-14 Stanley Cup Finals, recording seven goals and five assists during 25 playoff games … Signed a free-agent contract with Anaheim in 2015 and is in his first season with the Ducks, registering a goal and an assist in 15 games through Nov. 9 … Represented Team Sweden at the 2014 Olympics.
