Major League Baseball MLB NOTES • Former U-M pitcher and Chicago Cubs lefty Clayton Richard, a middle reliever, finished the postseason with a 0.00 ERA in six appearances, notch- ing two holds and striking out three in four and two-thirds innings pitched. He appeared in all four National League Championship Series games with the New York Mets, allowing three hits in four innings. • Veteran left-hander and former Mich- igan pitcher Rich Hill was expected to sign with a team before Nov. 21, radio station WEEI in Boston reported. The Red Sox were not expected to retain him. After stints with the Washington Na- tionals' Triple-A affiliate and the inde- pendent Long Island Ducks, Hill signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox in August. He allowed runs in just two of his 29 innings in four starts, resulting in a 1.55 ERA. The 35-year-old also struck out 36 while walking just five. ❏
