Joining a number of U-M team- mates coming from Cass Tech, Lewis bypassed the redshirt option and got thrown right into the action as a true freshman, appearing in eight games. He's only gotten better since, snag- ging a pair of interceptions in a dozen games as a sophomore and truly emerging this fall as Michigan's de- fensive ace on the corner. "It's been great," Michigan second- ary coach Greg Jackson said of Lewis' play. "He's been playing above expec- tations. I think the sky's the limit for him if he continues to stay focused and do what he's doing. He's going to get better and better every week. "He's playing with more discipline and better eye control on the receiver. He's reacting to the ball quicker, un- derstanding what the receivers are trying to do to him. He's putting all those things together and putting it all into one. "You can see it. He's getting stronger and stronger, each and every week." Lewis has no choice but to improve.
