PULL OUT HEIRLOOMS: Beau- tiful heirlooms, like your grand- mother's china or the family silver, make sit-down dinners both elegant and nostalgic. During her black-tie New Year's Eve dinners, Sally Wilson loves finding new uses for pieces that often are tucked away in storage. She might serve caviar with tiny silver spoons inlaid with pearls or use long iced tea spoons for ice cream parfaits swirled with jam and served in crys- tal Champagne flutes. Janie Haas, who uses the dishware that once belonged to her mother, agrees. "I love to set a beautiful table using things that she left to us that really make me feel like she's present," she says.
