Send it to: editor@nshoremag.com or visit us at nshoremag.com At Home Your choice of Don and Amy Bowen's Hamilton home for your first Northshore Home issue was a terrific idea. Don and Amy live and breathe the notion of sensible, sustainable, energy- efficient design. They designed and crafted an affordable and fun example of one approach to reducing our energy consumption. While their example is a contemporary design, the same goals can be achieved in a variety of architectural styles. The more often people are exposed to realistic solutions, the more success we'll have building those solutions. B E N N U T T E R , A I A , V I A E M A I L On the Road My husband and I decided to have lunch today when we were in the North Hampton area and decided to try Applecrest Farm Bistro. We had stopped by last week to buy apples and other farm produce for the first time. Then, I saw an article at the front of the latest Northshore magazine touting the bistro [October 2015, "Bucolic Bistro," page 19] and decided to try it when we were out and about in that area. We were not disappointed. We had hot steaming bowls of corn chowder and split a huge turkey, cheese, sliced apple and applewood bacon sandwich on rustic bread. Yum! And, with a beverage, it was $30. They serve wine and beer. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a rustic interior and an outdoor setting overlooking the nearby hills and orchards. The farm store reminds me somewhat of Tendercrop Farm but roomier, with the bistro and a creamery during the in-season.
