Model Citizen polo pro Nic RoldaN cuts a coMplex figure as one of the hot, young stars of his sport, a polo aM- bassador for luxury swiss watch- Maker piaget, a soMetiMe tabloid darling, and a part- tiMe Model. here, the 28-year-old athlete talks to Myopia polo about increasing awareness of the sport he adores and protecting his private life while planted firMly in the liMelight. Nic Roldan is used to being the victim of assump- tion. As a professional polo player, the 28-year-old is plagued by the stereotypes that haunt the sport. What bothers him most, however, is not that these assump- tions are inaccurate, but rather that they are incom- plete. Roldan hopes that by putting a face to polo he will reveal the engaging complexities of his passion and entice others to join in his love affair. ✦ To be fair, "polo player" is hardly a tragic stereotype to be lumped into. Polo carries with it the reputation of privilege and wealth, not to mention ruggedly handsome men in whites, who play just as aggressively on the field as they party off of it. Roldan admits there are facets of truth to that supposition, but it also misses the mark on numerous counts. In terms of elitism, Roldan points the finger at his friends across the pond. » 70 Myopia polo 2011 aMi de la Mer www.polopaparazzi.coM
