4 www.turbodieselregister.com TDR 66 2010 TRAVEL COMPANION For those of you new to the Turbo Diesel Register, we compile an annual listing of TDR Members willing to offer assistance to those who have problems while on the road. We have received reports of TDR Members transporting other members to local shops for truck repair as well as offering directions and advice to others travelling in their area. If any of you have benefitted from the use of the Travel Companion, let us know! We want to recognize those individuals in the magazine, but you have to let us know. We also send them a Travel Companion Distinguished Recognition (TcDR) grill badge. (See page 117 for an example of how the TcDR program is helpful.) In previous years, we have mailed every TDR Member a copy of the Travel Companion. We will continue the data collection, but for 2010 we will be compiling the Travel Companion and making it available as a download on the Turbo Diesel Register website (www.tdr1.com). This represents a significant savings in printing, postage and time. We realize that not everyone is computer-oriented, so if you would like a copy and you do not have access to the internet, simply call our office at (888) 440-8371. We will mail you a copy. Most TDR members will be able to simply log on, update their information, and download a copy. If this is your first visit to the Turbo Diesel Register website, you may have to request a username and password. To do this, just visit http://www.turbodieselregister.com/activate.htm. Fill out the form, and we will set up a username and password for you. Once you have that information, you will have complete access to our website. And you'll find that there is a world of helpful data at your fingertips. If you have any problems logging in, please contact our office at (888) 440-8371. 2010 TDR CALENDAR Our calendar contest was started in the fall of 2006 with the first calendar covering the year 2007. With this, our fourth year of publishing, we're pleased to report that this is our best calendar to date. As you look through the pages I think you'll agree. Outstanding! I would like to thank all of the TDR Members who submitted photographs for our 2010 TDR Calendar Contest. The overall quality of photographs submitted has improved again. The judging this year will be more difficult than ever. And I would like to thank the following companies for their financial support of the 2010 TDR Calendar. Autometer/Geno's Garage • Isspro/Geno's Garage • Diesel Injection Service • Suspension Maxx • South Bend Clutch • FASS/Diesel Performance Products • Geno's Garage • TS Performance • TST Products • Mag-Hytec • Stanadyne • As Issue 66 goes to print, the final winners have not yet been selected. We will have to judge more than 225 photographs. This year we saw fewer photographs with accidental junk in the background. You know those pesky utility poles or trees that look like they are growing from the truck bed or the McDonalds Happy Meal box accidentally left on the dashboard. And, as in previous years, we had a few folks try to sneak "Brand X" and non-diesel photographs into the contest. Nice try, guys. You thought we wouldn't notice? We hope you enjoy the 2010 TDR Calendar which is included in this mailing. Pay special attention to each month as some of the vendors are offering specials during their month of sponsorship. Thank you for your participation. COVER OF THE TDR FOR THIS AND FUTURE ISSUES The "Cover of the TDR" artwork program was initiated in Issue 63's editorial. The first to participate was the Forbus family: Jim, Dawn and Melissa. Melisa's truck was on Issue 64's cover. Issue 65 had the truck of TDR member Brian Edwards. The artwork-on-the-cover idea is a worthwhile endeavor. Artist Bob Pierce did the artwork for Issues 60, 62, 63 and 64. He is agreeable and he can be reached at (802) 893-0320; e-mail bobandstephie@ comcast.net. Bob lives in Milton, Vermont. I also talked with Kelly Snyder (she did Issue 61, 65 and this Issue's cover portrait) and she is also available to do artwork for the TDR's cover. Kelly can be reached at (520) 481-3300; e-mail diesel.artist@ gmail.com. Kelly lives in Tucson, Arizona. Both artists have agreed that $375 is a fair price for a painting of your truck. Get busy and send them a picture of your truck for the cover of the TDR. For this issue's cover we have the truck of TDR member Mike Colosky, Hollister, California. The technical drawing was done by Kelly Snyder.
