DESPITE A BROKEN WHEEL AND FLAT TIRES, JON WALKER AND COREY KEYSER WORKED THEIR WAY TO THE LEAD AND TOOK THE CLASS 1 WIN 013 SCORE JOURNAL drove about 800 miles without an intercom or communication so we had to wing it the whole way," said Daniel. "The throttle started sticking a little bit and got progressively worse, so trying to get it slowed down was pretty much a pain. We hustled in as fast as we could. These trucks are so fast and at night in Baja it is sketchy trying to drive off the GPS by myself without an intercom. I was looking out the corner of my eye for hand signals which was pretty gnarly." Behind Laguna and Daniel were the team of Tim Herbst and Larry Roeseler in the number 19 Trophy Truck, followed by Gus Vildosola Jr who finished fifth overall. Four-Wheel Classes Dealt With Tough Terrain Out of the 15 Class 1 vehicles that started the 48th Bud Light SCORE Baja 1000, Jon Walker and Corey Keyser managed to get through the tight traffic at the start of the race to win the Class and finished 13th overall. "There was a lot of beating and banging off the start for about 150 miles," said Walker. "We were by ourselves a little bit and went right through the silt beds and passed a couple of stuck Trophy Trucks." Both Walker and Keyser took the lead from the team of Shelby Reid and Danny Ebberts, who broke a wheel and experienced a couple of flat tires. "We just kept working on it and eventually got into the lead," said Keyser. "We just kept working on the lead by staying consistent. For us, the hardest part of the course was the sand whoops constantly pounding on us. We tried to be patient and kept a good speed through there without losing control of the car. We were happy to see those go away and get to some smooth sand." The Class-1 vehicles took a beating on the course, and despite the broken wheel, Reid and Ebberts finished in second place. Following in third place were Brian and Brad Wilson, followed by the team of Pat McCarthy, Rob Harmon, Langley Kesenboom and Rob Smith who finished in fourth place. Rocky terrain, minor mechanical issues, and a flat tire didn't stop Cody Reid and his co-drivers, Mike Majesky and Louis Chamberland from taking the Class-10 victory at the 48th Bud Light SCORE Baja 1000. "We had a few little mechanical issues and we made a few mistakes early on but nothing that was too big of a deal," said Reid. Co-rider Mike Majesky laughed about an unexpected problem, picking up a hitchhiker along the way. "At about 150 miles into my section I caught an owl right in the face mask," said Majesky. "He stayed in the car with me for another 150 miles sitting between the two seats. We got stuck in a rain rut and we let him go and he seemed okay." With a total of 18 starters in Class-10, the Cops team of Morgan Langley, Kory Halopoff, and Paul Keller managed to drive a damaged vehicle into second place after breaking some suspension components. "We hit a rock in the silt and damaged the lower arm on the driver's side and later we just limped it in after breaking a right rear CV, but other than that, we had a fun time," said Langley.
