dad bought it. After school I would work in the shop and met our neighbors Butch Dean and Kevin Bunderson. Later I bought a buggy from Robbie and Billy Goerke's dad that was torn apart at Butch Dean's shop. It was a Hi Jumper single seat 16 car, no radio, no power steering, no spare tire. It was fun. We stripped and sandblasted the car, and fixed it up. He made me do the work on it which pissed me off because I was a kid and just wanted to have fun. I almost quit because I hated all the work. But as soon as I raced my first race, the 1982 SNORE 250 I loved it. I quit playing high school sports. Years later I ran into my high school coach and he told me I cost him the 1983 state championship. I should have played that last year but I went off road racing. SJ: You won your 200th race on BF Goodrich Tires in 2012. How many wins do you have now? RM: When BFG put out the press release a lot of people thought that was 200 total wins. I've been on BFGs since I started racing with the Rough Riders in 1991 but I started racing in 1982. In 1982 SNORE had six races and I won them all in my first full season. There were one off short course races at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and lots of other small races. I don't know, and don't want to know my actual total. I was winning every third or fourth race I entered as I approached 200 on BFGs. Once I got to 199 it took ten more races to get to the 200th. That's why I hate counting. I don't want to know and count, I want to just let it happen. Later when I am done racing, I can sit back and reflect on what I've done. Right now I just want to go and keep winning races and championships. I am not counting like I need to get to a certain number to stop racing. I'm not quitting anytime soon. It's my career, my passion and my love. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. SJ: You have taken hundreds of green flags and raced many different cars and trucks. Which is your favorite? RM: The history and pedigree of the Riviera Trophy Truck (Mark Post's #3 built by Robby Gordon) was really cool. People really love that truck so for me to drive it felt really good. [Editors Note: The Robby Gordon Valvoline/ Mark Post Riviera TT has 15 overall wins, more than any other Trophy Truck.] In 1997 the Rough Rider program went away I had to start my own team. Some of the most rewarding trucks were the ones we built and developed for my own team. A specific car or truck does not stick out. Its more about the ones we built. Seeing results from all the fruits of your labor is really rewarding. We never really nicknamed any of the cars I raced. I guess one of my favorites was when Nye Frank and Dave Clark built my first Pro 4 for me in 1997 to race in SODA. That is when I was forced to have my own team and it wasn't a hobby anymore. That truck won 22 out of 36 races in its last two years. It won nine races in a row at Crandon. SJ: What does winning the SCORE Baja 1000 back to back mean to you? RM: As we all know the Baja 1000 is extremely hard to win overall. Everything has to go correctly. Now more than ever because the competition is so tight. If you don't push hard you are not going to be ROB MACCACHREN AND TEAM CELEBRATE THEIR REPEAT SCORE BAJA 1000 WIN. GETSOMEPHOTO. 025 SCORE JOURNAL
