The former Boilermaker, who posted another sack a week later, joined only four other players — De- Marcus Ware, Jared Allen, Derrick Thomas and Reggie White — who had at least 7.5 sacks in each of their first five seasons. This season has been a bit of a grind for Ker- rigan, who had knee surgery before the year then a hand injury during it. But the outside linebacker hasn't missed any time. Kerrigan is also financially set, having signed a five-year extension in Washington before the season for $57.5 million, including about $24 million guaranteed and a $16-million signing bonus. BRUCE GASTON In his first couple years in the league, Bruce Gaston has struggled to find a home. That is, until he went home. The defensive tackle has flourished since signing in Chicago, his hometown, in Week 9, when the Bears picked him up off Green Bay's practice squad. In the six games afterward — the St. Rita graduate missed one due to illness — Gaston had 11 tackles and a sack, providing quality snaps as the Bears' backup nose tackle. Gaston, undrafted in 2014, spent his first year-and-a-half bouncing around the league, between practice squads and rosters, in Miami, Arizona and Green Bay, before the opportunity in Chicago. RAHEEM MOSTERT Raheem Mostert is living the life of an undrafted rookie, trying to stick in the NFL as best he can. That's not always easy. On Dec. 16, he was picked up by Cleveland, his fourth NFL team, and had five kick returns for 159 yards, including a long of 53 in his Browns' debut Dec. 20. That came after he had spent the seven previous weeks with the Ravens, before they released him when he couldn't crack their backfield rotation. Undrafted this spring, Mostert spent training camp with Philadelphia, but didn't stick there. He signed with Miami, where he played in a game before being waived; the Dolphins were set to sign him to their practice squad, before Baltimore called, offering him a roster spot. He had a tackle there, and nearly scored a touchdown off a fumble recovery on special teams, while averag- ing 32.8 yards on five kickoff returns. For the season, he's averaging 31.7 yards on 12 returns. j Gaston Mostert For daily headlines on recruiting and other Purdue sports news, check out
