10 GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATE VOLUME 26, ISSUE 3 Boiler Wishes For 2016 5 Straight And Long: If the weather cooperates, the renovated Ackerman-Allen golf course will open in late spring. The Pete Dye-designed layout puts Purdue in special company as the only college program with two courses created by the golfing legend. Early reviews: Spectacular. 4 Go Deep: Dave Shondell's built a proven winner at Purdue, with 10 NCAA Tournament appearances in 13 years, including seven Sweet 16s and two Elite Eights. Maybe a little luck — and a good tourney draw — can get them even farther in 2016. 3 Dancin' Again: For any program, 20 losses is tough to handle. For Purdue, a proud program with a rich history, losing 20 was nearly impossible to stomach. But the Boilermakers' quick start to this season gives them a chance to erase the memory, with a return NCAA trip. 2 Under Center: Purdue's revolving door at quarterback has to come to an end, particularly if the Boilermakers are to start picking up victories with regularity. Settling on one — and giv- ing him the opportunity for success — is imperative. Here's hoping. 1 No. 1: The Boilermakers are built for success, with a big, physical frontline and plenty of other scoring options on the wing and in the backcourt. They defend and rebound, have solid leadership, and they're hungry. Purdue hasn't had a share of the Big Ten title since 2009-10 — and '96 was the last time the Boilermakers won it outright — but this seems like as good a time as any. — Kyle Charters "I'm excited. I can see determination. I don't want you to go out like we did and I know you won't." Departing senior Danny Anthrop at Purdue's postseason banquet Dec. 13, talking to the returning Boilermakers "It's always good to see our guys' faces after a win. They light up. I think that's huge. Obviously, didn't see it enough." Darrell Hazell in mid-December "We had a focus the last few years of getting the ball inside, but we weren't as skilled and as deep as we are this year where each guy can feed the post and each guy can drive the ball and each guy can shoot the ball. I think it's a good balance." Senior Rapheal Davis in mid-December T O P Top 1-3 photos by Tom Campbell; No. 4 by Purdue
