I t was another banner year for Serving The American Rinks (STAR) and all of our members in 2015. For starters, STAR celebrated its 15th anniversary. Over the course of those 15 years we have accomplished many things, but we want to do even more for you and the ice rink industry in the years to come. Throughout the next year we will be providing our members with new resources and more educational opportunities than ever before. If you or your facility is not currently a STAR member, take a look at page 21 for a list of all the valuable benefits that we offer to our members, including an annual subscription to RINK Magazine. Speaking of educational opportunities, the 2016 North American Rink Conference & Expo (NARCE) brochure is included in the middle of this issue. The 14th annual event will once again be held at the Hyatt Regency, May 16-19, in downtown Columbus, Ohio. In addition to the industry-leading education offered at NARCE, the opportunity to network with hundreds of your peers and interact with the leading vendors in our industry can't be missed. Shortly after NARCE ends, we will be holding our Regional Training Programs at multiple locations around the country, starting in late spring and ending in the fall. We are starting to plot out these locations now, so if your facility is a STAR member and would like to host a Regional Training Program, please contact us today at info@starrinks.com. Finally, I would like to congratulate the individuals who have invested in their future as ice rink industry professionals by earning STAR certifications this past year. The class of 2015 was made up of 16 Certified Ice Rink Managers (CIRM); 25 Certified Rink Administrators (CRA); and 55 Certified Ice Technicians (CIT). There were also 22 CITs that successfully re-certified in 2015.
