ā€‚ COMMITMENT PROFILE Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic four-star wide receiver Dylan Crawford was in San Antonio the first week of Janu- ary for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and was the first prospect to announce his commitment live on television during the game. When the players arrived in the Alamo City earlier in the week, many believed that Crawford was headed to Oregon. He had dubbed it his "dream school" after picking up an offer, and the Ducks looked like the favorite. But as the week went on, the chatter about Michigan picked up. Rivals.com national analyst Mike Farrell speculated that U-M might be the favorite earlier than anyone else and broke down Crawford's impending decision a couple of days before it happened. "Crawford has been to Michigan and Miami on officials, and he's seen UCLA plenty, but Oregon was where he was expected to commit following his official visit," Farrell explained. "It was a bit of a surprise when he didn't, and it raised a bit of a red flag. "[U-M head coach] Jim Harbaugh has ties to California for sure and wants to make a habit of stealing kids from the West Coast if he can. This would be a bit of an upset, and I think it happens." When the game rolled around Jan. 9, Crawford was the first of five prospects scheduled to announce his college decision. Just after the midpoint of the first quarter, Crawford stepped to the stage. When it was time for him to reach for a lid, he came back with the Maize and Blue. "I'm humbled and honored to make this decision ā€” I will be attending the Uni- versity of Michigan," Crawford said. "It is the best fit for me." Crawford, who had three recep- tions for 30 yards in the West's 37-9 victory at the Alamodome, seemed to form a solid bond with Michi- gan recruit Brandon Peters, who is already on campus as an early en- rollee. Crawford had good things to say about Peters, and his relation- ship with the four-star quarterback Michigan Proves To Be The Best Fit For Dylan Crawford Crawford, the No. 20 prospect in California and No. 129 overall player in the country according to Rivals.com, picked Uā€‘M over UCLA, Miami and Oregon.
