I n his final five games (Rutgers through Florida), fifth-year senior quarterback Jake Rudock completed 115 of 172 passing attempts for 1,574 yards with 14 touchdowns and two interceptions. No passer in U-M history has ever thrown for more yards in a five-game segment than Rudock, but how does his impressive stretch rank among the best all time? Since Rick Leach commanded the starting quarterback position in 1978, Rudock's five-game performance from Nov. 7, 2015, through Jan. 1, 2016, ranks among the best passing stretches of the past four decades, but surprisingly it's not in the top five. The implemented metric to com- pare quarterbacks across the last 40 seasons is pass efficiency rating, which compounds overall quarter- back performance according to the following formula: 100 x completions/ attempts + 8.4 x yards/attempts + 330 x touchdowns/attempts – 200 x intercep- tions/attempts. According to this formula, Ru- dock's late stretch ranks ninth at Inside Michigan ATHLETICS Jake Rudock's Finish Among Michigan's All-Time Best Passing Stretches Not many U-M quarterbacks have enjoyed a better passing streak than Rudock's final five games, but head coach Jim Harbaugh is one.
