  MICHIGAN HOCKEY Getting To Know Junior Defenseman Nolan De Jong Playing in all 21 games this season, junior Nolan De Jong has been one of Michigan's top blue liners, ranking second among defensemen with a plus/ minus of plus-11. The Victoria, British Columbia, native has also contributed seven assists. Nickname: "Jongers is the biggest one, but a unique one that the guys gave me is Peno abbreviated for jalapeno. My freshman year, we had a group chat and [junior classmate] Evan Allen asked, 'Where is Jalapeno?' When everyone asked who he was talking about he said, 'Nolan.' It was one of those things that just stuck and then got shortened." De Jong was a seventh-round selection of the Minnesota Wild in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, going 197th overall.
