EXPANDING

PITTSBURGH INDOOR
SPORTS ARENA
W
hen Karyn Brooks bought into
Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena
(PISA) in Cheswick, Pennsylvania, she began
to look for ways to diversify the facility's
customer base and be a sports facility rather
than a soccer facility. After considering several
ideas, she announced a 13,000 square foot
addition with two courts.
"The expansion will help to diversify our
customers and really get our name out to
Pittsburgh as more of a sports facility than
a soccer facility," said Brooks. The current
building has three turf fields on 93,000 square
feet of space.
She had also considered adding sand courts
for volleyball and soccer and making the one
unboarded field into a full-size soccer field.
But after some thought, she decided to add
the courts. "When it came down to the vision
of the original ownership, I wanted to honor
their vision and create a space for futsal first
and foremost."
