We decided on a '79 Bronco because we felt that to survive the SCORE Baja 2000 race, it needed to have the straight axle, C6 transmission, and nine-inch rear end package. That particular generation of Bronco came with the toughest parts, so that was our pick." The Moss Brothers team is a true grassroots race organization made up of family and friends. The majority of the team attended Cal Poly where they were part of the SAE Baja team, the Poly Goats Four Wheel Drive Club and the Penguins Motorcycle Club. "It's unusual to keep this large a group together for this long. I'm proud of that", said Moss. "Since the Bronco stopped being produced in 1996, nothing has been built that is equal to it," said Moss. "The combination of the frame, suspension, and running gear make it very tough. Now everything is made for going to the mall. It's a good size and package for Baja." While the truck has been successful for many years, the team suffered problems at the 48th Bud Light SCORE Baja 1000. While they had finished every other SCORE Baja 1000 they had entered, that streak would end when the engine broke a crankshaft causing a catastrophic failure near race mile 296.
