Based in Singapore, she will be responsible for driving hotel sales, global sales and revenue performance for the company's expanding worldwide portfolio. Tan is a 20-year hospitality veteran and was most recently the executive director, sales & marketing, Asia Pacific at FRHI Hotels & Resorts. Karen's appointment underscores the group's emphasis on sales and revenue performance as the twin engines for spurring strategic long-term growth. "Our Group owns and manages more than 30 hotels and resorts, and we are proud to offer a range of facilities which can accommodate meetings of any size, from large- scale conferences to small incentive groups. What differentiates us is our ability to customise our offerings according to individual needs, and to be highly flexible. We are constantly innovating and pursuing service excellence, which are essential in delivering successful meetings and events," says Karen. The Langham Auckland announced the appointment of Matthew Carroll as director of food and beverage. Carroll has more than 10 years of luxury hotel experience. Most recently, he was the assistant director of food and beverage at the Park Hyatt Sydney, a role he was promoted to after just two years as restaurant manager. Carroll's love for hospitality and F&B extends to a personal interest in collecting single malt whiskeys. Helene Fong takes over as director of sales & marketing at JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok, who left her role at JW Marriott Hong Kong after serving as director of marketing since September 2012. Prior to that, she held similar roles with various properties in the Shangri- La Hotels & Resorts group in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Beijing and Shenzhen. Her deep familiarity with the Asian market paves the way for dynamic marketing strategies. Janet McNab oversees hotel operations at Sheraton Macao Hotel and the newly opened The St Regis Macao in Cotai Central as managing director. A veteran who has been with the Starwood group for 25 years, McNab is familiar with the Asian market, having spent 13 years in various properties. Prior to her move, she was area general manager for the group in South Thailand as well as with The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa. Taking over as general manager of The St Regis Langkawi is Riccardo Giacometti who completed his three-year tenure at Le Méridien, Dom Hotel Cologne in Germany. Giacometti has been a part of the Starwood group since 2000. Since then, he has honed his expertise with Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel & Tower and taken on management responsibilities at the Hotel Bristol and Hotel Imperial in Vienna.
