Idaho Falls Power offers a number of programs for business owners looking to lower their power bill. From lighting upgrades to improvements to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, incentives are available for every business in town. More than 100 local companies participated in IFP's energy effi ciency programs in 2015. Here's a look at a few of the projects: • At Idaho Falls School District 91, energy-effi cient measures were installed during construction of four elementary schools, including ground source heat pumps and energy management systems, leading to an expected savings of 3,596,682.76 kilowatt-hours. That's $110,077.83! • At Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, upgrades were made at several facilities, including the Behavioral Health Center, NICU and lighting for two parking lots, leading to an expected annual savings of 225,166.61 kilowatt-hours. That's almost $7,000 per year! EIRMC has been a participant in IFP's programs for nearly a decade . "As a result, in 2008, we became the fi rst hospital in our company to earn the Energy Star Designation," said EIRMC Chief Engineer Rod Rooney. "Our parent company HCA, has taken our ideas and spread them to over 150 sister hospitals nationally, so that others can achieve the same energy conservation." • IFP's Commercial Lighting Program is the most popular of the programs, with 117 participants in 2015 for an expected energy savings of 2.1 million kilowatt-hours and more than $300,000 in rebates distributed. Brady's used the program to replace metal halide lights at its 32,000-square-foot store on Lincoln Road with energy-effi cient LEDs. The move has saved more than $500 per month, with an expected payback for the project of less than three years. "We're pretty tickled," said Brady's owner Steve Brady. "This is the way to go."
