86 • WRAPS • 2 0 1 6 WRAP TECHNIQUES Start by positioning the film so it bridges the channels of the vehicle. Apply the film to the flat areas above and below the bridge using standard application methods, leav- ing between 4" to 6" all around the channel. Using a heat gun set to about 400°F, heat the film to 180°F. (Remember to use the right film for the job.) Direct the heat gun toward the graphic. Heat the film for about two seconds and, using a foam roller tool, immediately roll the film into the channel. For this particular channel, the 3M VCAT-2 roller works great. Advance the tool along the channel at a rate of about two inches per second. Maintain the roller perpendicular to the surface, while adjusting the temperature and speed of applica- tion as you become comfortable with the use of the tools.
