2016 RECRUITING ISSUE a 'flashy' recruiter on this staff, but this is a very balanced class where a lot of guys contributed. Offensive line coach Harry Hiestand did a great job. [Defensive line coach] Keith Gilmore did a great job not only with the defen- sive line, but he was very involved for Daelin Hayes. "You can also mention [recruiting coordinator] Mike Elston in there; I think him and Gilmore did a nice combo job." Wiltfong: "[Associate head coach and wide receivers coach] Mike Den- brock is one of the best in the country; his territory is just a little tough to re- cruit. [Offensive coordinator and quar- terbacks coach] Mike Sanford is a hard worker at it. [Running backs coach] Autry Denson seems to really enjoy building relationships, and Harry Hi- estand is a sniper on the recruiting trail along the offensive line. "Mike Elston did a great job getting it organized, and he likes to go out and recruit." Lemming: "Autry Denson has be- come the star. Harry Hiestand also, he may be the best offensive line recruiter in the country. He gets almost every- body that he wants. "Denbrock is great; he just didn't have a whole lot of guys in Chicago this year." BGI: Notre Dame signed seven guys out of the state of Florida this class. Is that a place they should continue hitting hard going forward? Farrell: "Yes. Florida, continuing in North Carolina and Georgia. The Southeast is the reason they paired with the ACC; it's the reason Ohio State had success. "You can have the bulk of your roster come from your standard re- cruiting territories, but if you're Notre Dame, Ohio State or any of them, you have to recruit nationally." Wiltfong: "Notre Dame can recruit nationally all year, so Florida is always a place where they've had a presence. I didn't notice much different there this year from past years." Rivals 1. Alabama 2.
