2016 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ISSUE goes there," Patrick said. "During summer workouts or whenever those guys have free time, he spends a lot of time with JD. He really looks up to him and they compete against each other like mad men. "Lavert has developed his game around stuff he's seen from JD since he was a young player." Hill is coming to Michigan as the No. 14 cornerback and No. 176 pros- pect overall nationally, and is consid- ered the No. 5 player in the state of Michigan. Lewis was the No. 10 cor- nerback and No. 131 prospect nation- ally, and the No. 3 player in the state. At 5-11, 175 pounds, Hill is bigger and more built than Lewis was (5-10, 159) coming out of high school, and Patrick thinks he's got just as much potential as Michigan's current All- American. "I really think that Lavert has elite athleticism and ball skills," Patrick said. "When you put both of those factors together for the position that he plays you have something special. His skill set should be transferrable to the college game immediately. "He's probably the most athletic kid I've ever coached, and that says a lot when you look at who we've had come through the program in the last 10 years." With a strong secondary returning, Harbaugh might not need to deploy his four-star corner in his freshman season, but that's not how Hill is ap- proaching his rookie year. "I'm just going to come in and work hard," Hill said. "I'm trying to earn a spot up there, so I'm going to work as hard as I can and try to make an impact very quickly." ❏
