SCORE FORCED TO CANCEL BAJA SUR 500 RACE SCORE International announced it would be forced to cancel the SCORE Baja Sur 500 race scheduled for April. According to SCORE CEO Roger Norman, the government of Baja California SUR confirmed that they were unable to honor their contractual agreement with SCORE. "We are extremely disappointed but this decision is in the best interest of all concerned," said Roger Norman, SCORE CEO/President. "We have been informed that the BCS government is not able to honor the commitments they originally made for the event," said Roger Norman. "We have been left with no choice but to cancel the race and we will proceed with a four-race SCORE World Desert Championship for 2016. SCORE needs support from the various communities where races are held to make it possible to put on a race to our standard." Because of the race cancellation, the 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship points will change this year, so that ALL points earned from the four races in the series will count towards a championship. These races include the San Felipe 250, Baja 500, Rosarito Beach Desert Challenge and the Baja 1000. To qualify for a season championship, a racer must start at least three of the four events including the season- ending SCORE Baja 1000. NEW KING SHOCK ZONE TO OFFER BIG PAYOUT King Shocks is creating the King Shock Zone, an area which extends from the starting line to the first checkpoint during SCORE races. The fastest vehicle through the King Shock Zone will receive $4,000 in cash or $5,000 in credit for King Shock parts or service. SCORE race vehicles equipped with King Shocks and contingency decals will qualify to participate in the King Shock Zone Payout. According to King Shocks, the cash payout will be awarded at the finish line of the race, after the times through the King Shock Zone have been calculated to determine a winner. KING SHOCK ZONE PROGRAM Start line to CP1 $4,000 Cash to the Fastest Vehicle through the King Shocks Zone OR $5,000 in King Shocks Credit for Parts in Service Limited to King Shocks Equipped Vehicles Contingency Decals are required Cash will be awarded at the finish line or Awards Ceremony. Pending timing has been reviewed for that section. SCORE NEWS 06 SCORE JOURNAL
