I think that ranking is attainable, given the price point and overall quality," he says. While towables have historically been the entry-level choice for first-time buyers, Josephthal says Jayco is seeing "more first- time buyers, even younger families, buying compact motorhomes. "As C's get more competitive from a pricing point, if a younger family doesn't have a pickup truck, the travel trailer becomes problematic," he notes. "Families are using their RVs for camping, yes, but a lot more kids are becoming involved with traveling sports teams and a motorhome becomes a viable option." For these and other reasons, Josephthal agrees with RVIA forecasts that Class C shipments will likely reach 22,900 in 2016, while B shipments will rise to 3,330, with growth spread equally between gas- and diesel-powered units. Winnebago: Class C Fuse Debuts on New Ford Transit Chassis Winnebago Industries began produc- tion in December on the Fuse compact Class C, built on the new Ford Transit diesel cutaway chassis. The RV maker has found success with its Unity model, which is available in several floorplans, including the popular FX model (pictured), which features a Murphy bed behind the recliners and table.
