52 • RV PRO • MARCH 2016 rv-pro.com DISTRIBUTOR BEST OF SHOW Blue Ox, Pender, Neb., intro- duces the Fifth Wheel Rail Kit for Gooseneck, which allows a fifth wheel hitch to be easily installed to a rail kit that sits above the Blue Ox Gooseneck hookup. The rail kit especially works well for those who need a goose- neck ball in their truck bed for work, but want to be able to hitch up a fifth wheel when it comes time to play. "In the agricultural industry and construction industry, a lot of those folks are owners of fifth wheels, so it gives them the option of doing both duties with one hitching product," says Blue Ox Sales Rep Rick Kauer. "A lot of people will pull a fifth wheel trailer using an adaptor that comes off of the pin box of the fifth wheel and adapts it to an actual gooseneck ball," notes Blue Ox Sales Rep Curtis Carpenter. "The problem with that is that it voids the warranty of any brand new trailer. This allows you to pull and not void any warranties on the frames or have any wor- ries of damaging your brand new fifth wheel." With the Blue Ox device, the entire switch-out can take place in a matter of minutes. The fifth wheel ball is removed from its slot with a twist and is replaced with another piece. The standard rail kit then is put in place and tightened into the new piece. Any fifth wheel hitch up to 20K – whether stationary or sliding – can then be hooked up to the rail kit. Once the fifth wheel outing is over, simply remove the hitch, take the center bolt out of the rail kit, remove the rails and go right back to using the gooseneck. "So, therefore, it's not taking up a lot of space in the bed of your truck," Carpenter says. "If you want to haul some wood or Land 'N' Sea/Bell Show Product Winners plywood or something like that, it's not sitting all uneven and you have the whole bed of your truck available to do what you would normally do." No extra drilling is required. The rail kit even includes hand- holds to make it easier for one person to remove and install the 83-pound kit. The kit is made of all-steel construction and is made in the U.S.A.
