J
ackson Anthrop scored a bunch of touchdowns.
He scored them rushing the ball, scored them catching the ball,
scored them returning interceptions, scored them returning punts.
In all, Anthrop scored 105 during his high school career at Lafayette Cen-
tral Catholic. That includes a not-real-seeming total of 55 as a senior —
when he played into the second half of only a handful of games.
And yet, Anthrop was sitting in January without an offer from a Division
I school for football.
The small-school perception had firmly taken hold.
At Central Catholic, he was piling up numbers against perceived inferior
competition.
At a perhaps generously listed 5-foot-10, he was too small.
More Than Meets The Eye
Anthrop out to erase small-school perception
Mike Ringor
When asked to put scoring 55
touchdowns in perspective, how that
felt, Jackson Anthrop said he actually
hadn't thought about it. "You just go out
there and play your game with the guys
you love out there," he said. "They
know what you can do. You know what
they can do. You just play hard from
whistle to whistle, start to finish. That's
all you can do, really."
