Take Public Transportation
Capital Metro, Austin's regional public transportation system,
offers reliable transit options including the MetroBus and Met-
roRail. You can plan your route from beginning to end using
the Trip Planner function on the website, capmetro.org or the
free Capital Metro mobile app.
Hail a Cab
Taxis populate the streets around all of the SXSWedu hotels,
so catching a ride is never a challenge. The most convenient
taxi queue zones are in front of the Courtyard Marriott on 4th
Street and in front of the Hilton Austin Downtown on Neches
Street. Frequently used cab companies include Austin Cab
Company, Lone Star Cab and Yellow Cab.
Request a Driver
Ridesharing services like Lyft and Uber offer a fast and easy
way to get from point A to point B. Just download the app and
request a ride!
Flag Down a Pedicab
If your trip is a short one and you are in the mood for an iconic
Austin experience, riding in a pedicab is the way to go. Pedicab
operators must post the fare structure in their pedicabs (fixed,
negotiated or for tips only), so you can familiarize yourself with
it and agree upon a fare before your trip begins.
The majority of SXSWedu hotels are located within
walking distance of the programming venues, but, in
addition to walking, there are a number of alternative
ways to navigate downtown Austin during SXSWedu.
