MEN'S TENNIS (10‑3 OVERALL, 1‑0 BIG TEN) No. 24 Michigan had an excit- ing start to season, including a 7-0 sweep of No. 25 Duke Feb. 7 and a 4-1 win over No. 22 Tulsa Feb. 28 … Junior Alex Knight got off to a fantastic start this year, going 12-1 in dual matches since the onset of team action … Michigan was 8-0 when securing the doubles point and 2-2 when failing to secure the match's opening point … The Wolverines have a busy March and April ahead of them in prepa- ration for the Big Ten Tournament April 28-May 1 in Minneapolis. WOMEN'S TENNIS (7‑3 OVERALL) The sixth-ranked Wolverines have won five of their last seven contests, including a 4-2 win over No. 11 Miami Feb. 5 and a 5-2 vic- tory over No. 2 North Carolina Feb. 20 … Freshman Kate Fahey has been one of the standouts for U-M in the early part of the sea- son, compiling a 9-1 dual record from the No. 2 and No. 3 singles spots … Like the men, the doubles point has proved extremely sig- nificant for the Wolverines; the squad stands a perfect 7-0 when winning the doubles point and 0-3 without it … Michigan begins the Big Ten season March 19 and the conference tournament begins April 28 in East Lansing, Mich. ❏ Rookie Kate Fahey was named Big Ten Tennis Athlete of the Week Feb. 23 after topping No. 58 Jessie Aney in straight sets to help the Wolverines secure a 5‑2 win over No. 2 North Carolina.
