(Laven) is trying to navigate, clear warnings, and read the temperatures; it was a hectic start to the race," said Wilson. Shortly after, they lost their GPS which caused further problems for Wilson and Laven. "Trying to run a race pace somewhat blind, we didn't have too much dust, but there was a lot going on if you are traveling really fast and without a lot of time to figure out which way to go," said Wilson. The GPS continued to have some small issues throughout the race and Wilson paced himself into his pit at Race Mile 150, after exiting the Matomi Wash. The team took on fuel and tires at RM150 but shortly after leaving the pit, punctured a tire. Luckily a team member was about one mile away and Wilson drove the truck in to change the tire in only two minutes. Wilson was fourth on the road at their pit stop and felt he gained confidence knowing he had a solid run in the works. "We had a clear day most of the race," Wilson said. "We had a good split between the trucks. The guys that got flats early on separated the dust and we were able to race in the clear. We had some but nothing too crazy. We just paced ourselves and did the best we could without taking ourselves out of the race." "We went by a few trucks that were broken and I figured we have to be doing pretty well, in second or third place. We didn't have radio communication with anyone until we got near the finish. So when we got to the podium we were pretty surprised that there was not another SCORE Trophy Truck there." Without even knowing it, or knowing he was in contention for the win, Wilson won the San Felipe 250 in his first Trophy Truck race - and in a new truck! "That course is as rough as it gets, but San Felipe has always been one of my favorite races," said Wilson.
