COMMITMENT PROFILE U‑M fans have grown accustomed to seeing a jersey with "Ross" embla‑ zoned across the back over the past four years. While James Ross III has graduated (and taken the "III" from the nameplate with him), it won't be a long wait until that last name re‑ turns to the field at The Big House. His brother, Joshua, will continue the family tradition. The younger Ross picked up of‑ fers from the likes of Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma and several others over the course of his recruitment. However, it seemed inevitable that he would head to Ann Arbor, just like his big brother. The four‑star turned that into a reality March 22. "It's always been up there," he said of U‑M. "I like Michigan a lot, and it fits me well. The final thing was where I fit. I wanted to go to a place not because my brother went there, but because it's the one that fit me the best — coaching style, scheme. I want to go to the place where I know I can do well." Ross didn't want to pick Michigan just because of his older brother's ca‑ reer as a Wolverine. Fortunately, upon the arrival of new defensive coordina‑ tor Don Brown, he realized heading just down the road to Ann Arbor from Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's Prep seemed like the right move, regardless of James' history with the program. When he does hit the field, the Rivals.com rates Ross as a four-star prospect, the No. 4 player in Michigan, and the No. 9 outside linebacker and No. 189 overall player in the country.
