512 GUSTAV V10
But there was more to the
truck than just a stronger,
lighter frame. While the Prefix
Minotaurâ„¢ Class 8 race truck
lacked some advantages that
Trophy Trucks and Class 1
cars have over production-
based race trucks, the Team
KORE #12 truck made up
for it in horsepower and
torque from a 512 cubic
inch V10 Gustav engine.
Backed up by a smash-and-
run, no-nonsense Turbo 400
transmission, the Gustav V10
race engine was built by Arrow
Racing Engines and efficiently
turns out 980 horsepower and
well north of 800 lb.-ft. torque.
This V10 weighs approximately
500 pounds, and is capable
of delivering stump-pulling
power and torque starting at
a low 1,500 RPM, and pulling
hard up to the 7,800 redline,
all day long. Potential race
speed capability is estimated at
upwards of 145 miles per hour.
The Gustav 512 was first
run in last year's SCORE Baja
500 and is now in its second
year running SCORE races.
To date, it has already proved
to be a powerful and reliable
race engine and continues to
be one of those engineering/
