Milestone is a major supplier of seed cutters, and much of the presentation—led by marketing director Shane Mitchell and service manager JB Hutson—focused on machine maintenance and demonstrated the significant difference that can be made by making relatively small tweaks. PLANTING| Story and photos by Tyrell Marchant Milestone hosts seed cutting class Cuttin' Up Hutson demonstrates to growers how to replace and adjust a cutter's sponge drums—cylinders covered with foam and a rubber skin that pull seed pieces through the cutter blades. Drums should be checked at the beginning of each season to ensure they are in good condition; rubber skins have a tendency to harden or separate from the drums, resulting in less control and size inconsistencies. more at www.milestone-equipment.com.
