BY CHRIS BALAS M ichigan head coach John Beilein and his staff have already secured one top- 100 player in the 2017 class and are working on several oth- ers, having offered a handful. The Wolverines currently have at least four scholarships to offer juniors, though that could change with the addition of another 2016 target, and there is one on the radar — unrated wing Harold Baruti of Grundy (Va.) Mission School. The athletic, 6-6 Baruti visited U-M May 4, but has yet to receive an of- fer. One could come if the coaches find his academics are in order, but it wasn't expected to be a quick pro- cess, Mission School coach Pawel Mrozik said May 5. "He is a high-ceiling kid," Mrozik said. "He came to us two years ago from Africa. He can play at that [Big Ten] level — maybe not right away, but he's improved a lot each year." Baruti isn't a shooter, per se, but he can hit threes and has good shooting mechanics. Most of the coaches' time has been spent on 2017 and 2018 prospects, however. Poole talked to both of them before they departed. "Coach Jordan said he wanted to make sure I wasn't going to bail or anything — it was just a great oppor- tunity for him," Poole said. "I told him congratulations on his new job and did the same with Coach Alexan- der. I'm not going anywhere." He is going up a bit in height, how- ever, and is now a legit 6-4 according to Rivals.com's Eric Bossi. "I added two inches in height in a few months it seems," Poole con- firmed with a laugh.
