To Be Left Behind?" Our distinguished panelists, including Master Whitaker of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, talked about the various implications of innovation in litigation, including the impact of technology on issues of ethics and practice management. Day two started with a keynote from Vicky Pryce who gave a tour de force presentation on the state of the global economy with particularly insightful comments about her home country, Greece. She explained in clear terms all the obstacles and barriers to a full global recovery, but left us all with a sense of hope that the world is slowly trading back to a stronger position. Delegates on day two then enjoyed content associated with emerging technologies, innovation and strategy, and service and process support. Sessions started off with an all-star panel of large-firm CIOs addressing the question "To Innovate or Not To Innovate?" It was clear from this discussion that firms differ widely in their approaches to technology innovation as a differentiator in the delivery of legal services and the philosophy of technology as an investment in the practice versus technology as a necessary expense associated with the practice. Several sessions on day two also highlighted specific implementations of leading-edge technology in law firms, including the change management issues associated with such implementations. Sessions featured case studies on adoption of new litigation support technologies, deployment of an internal social network to drive KM and collaboration, and early adoption of Office 2010. These sessions provided practical guidance in terms of best practices and avoiding pitfalls with the featured technologies. The co-chairs, Janet Day of Berwin Leighton Paisner and Gareth Ash of Allen & Overy LLP, and Michele Gossmeyer, President of ILTA, wrapped up the conference with comments on ILTA's activities on a global basis and some personal highlights and anecdotes from the two days. For those who were unable to be there, audio recordings of the INSIGHT keynotes and sessions, as well presentation materials from most of the sessions, are available at http://INSIGHT.iltanet.org.
