olton Udall makes
his living as a
professional off-
road motorcycle
racer, yet has
felt the pain of
the corporate workplace just
as sharply as if he had to wear
a suit and tie to work every
day. As a former member of
the all-conquering Johnny
Campbell Racing (JCR)
Honda squad, and winning
SCORE's prestigious Class 22
motorcycle championship in
2013, he thought his future
was assured. It wasn't.
Not long after winning the
SCORE Baja 1000 that year,
Campbell informed him and
the rest of the team that due
to budget reductions and the
resulting business decisions,
Honda would no longer back
the team in SCORE competition.
Instead, Honda shifted focus in
a new, domestic direction as a
GNCC Woods-racing team.
Udall and his SCORE-centric
JCR teammates were being
laid off. Understandably,
Udall went through the usual
emotional phases of anger and
resentment. "I had a plastic
bag with the number 1X on it
and it was like, now I had to go
