SCORE BAJA 500 PREVIEW
RACERS SET TO TAKE
ON THE 48TH SCORE
BAJA 500
T
he SCORE Baja
500 enters its 48th
Anniversary as
one of the most
iconic desert races
in the world. This
will be the second race of the
2016 SCORE World Desert
Championship, following the
SCORE San Felipe 250.
In 2016, the SCORE Baja 500
will be held in Ensenada, Baja
California Norte. This year will
mark the 43rd time the race
has started in Ensenada, and
the 39th time it has finished
in town. Spectators and fans
who watch the race from the
city will get to see the exciting
start and dramatic finish
from one single location.
The race got its start in 1969
and was officially run by SCORE
International in 1974. The course
is approximately 500 miles
winding around a variety of
terrain on Mexico's Peninsula.
Typically, SCORE expects nearly
250 off-road racers from around
the world to take part in the
race. Some strive to win while
others are content to conquer
the Baja peninsula and finish the
race, happy that they competed
in one of the most grueling
competitions that test the will
of both man and vehicle. SJ
