FRIENDLY BUT THEY'RE
STILL COMPETITORS

Unlimited Motorcycle class
being relatively small, its
participants generally know
and acknowledge each other.
That doesn't necessarily mean
they're close friends. As Udall
puts it, he remains cordial and
polite. "I haven't really gone out
to dinner with any of them,"
he said. "I do know quite a few
of the competition. I'm a little
bit of an introvert and I try to
open up a little bit [in social
settings]. When I do, people will
start asking questions that are
worth valuable knowledge."
While Udall would rather
not have to surrender any
information that he's worked
hard to obtain, his reluctance to
speak to competitors is hardly
a character flaw. It's actually
something he's picked up over
the years. "This goes back a
ways, and I might be throwing
some dirt around, but I grew
up under Quinn [Cody] and
Kendall [Norman]," said Udall.
"They were on the JCR Honda
'A' team. There wasn't any line
sharing or anything like that.
It was two teams within a
team, kind of battling it out."
"In 2010, that's when I
learned to go to the right
places in Mexico and interpret
what Johnny was telling me.
