rv-pro.com JUNE 2016 • RV PRO • 41 a dedicated team of operations employees that are counted on to deliver great work on a daily basis that our end customers ultimately depend on. RV PRO: As president and CEO, what is a "typical day" like for you? Happe: With less than 90 days under my belt, there isn't a typical day yet. I am committed to climbing the learning curve as quickly as possible, and that means being flexible with my schedule to garner expo- sure to the complete Winnebago business model – internally and externally. There have been a lot of days on the road visiting dealers, suppliers, Winnebago facilities, and our strategic partners. When I'm in the Forest City, Iowa, office, it's a blend of catching up with my direct reports, being engaged in meetings about the prog- ress of our current business, and starting to form relationships with the team here. RV PRO: How do you make sure to stay connected with the company and its employees when you are in Minne- sota and the corporate/ manufacturing operations are in Iowa? Happe: My family lives in Minnesota. I work wherever the business needs require. We will have a small office in the Twin Cities area that will allow me to spend some necessary time there from a work-family balance standpoint, but my intentions are certainly to be in the business physi- cally wherever my presence can be helpful – whether that's North Iowa, Indiana, Oregon, or elsewhere. Laptops and smart phones are essential for any mobile execu- tive these days to stay connected to the business and be accessible as needed. One of Winnebago's major initiatives for 2016 is transitioning the production of its diesel motorhomes from its main operations in Forest City, Iowa, to Junction City, Ore. Happe says the first few production units are in process and Winnebago's goal is to ramp up to a robust manufacturing schedule by the end of fiscal 2017.
