PRODUCT No. The hardest part about this Buoy- Rope is describing what the main use really is. I originally ordered it because it looked like a good quick and versa- tile docking line that would allow me to easily tie up my fenders and keep the boat tied to the dock with the one easy-to-use design. But since trying it out, I discovered many other great uses including a makeshift clothes line or a tie down for inside the boat. It's also a great way to secure your inflat- ed tubes when you're caught between that time of day when the kids are done tubing, but they may want to go later so don't deflate the tube just yet. Now I know this is designed just for boating, but when I went to the website I realized this company also makes the LoopRope. The original version is handy for tying down cargo in your truck and out of curiosity I tried it out and the boating version worked for tying my load down on the way to 119 TEST PRODUCT No. I tow a lot so I just couldn't resist adding a backup camera to my truck; at least that's how I was able to justify it to my wife. Temporary cameras work just fine, but I was looking for some- thing a little more permanent when I came across AmeriCam online and decided to give it a try. 120 TEST AmeriCam can be fitted to any ve- hicle with a 12-volt reverse light feed, which is nearly all vehicles. I like that it provides a wide-angle rear view color camera, which lies flush against the bumper, giving an unobstructed view day or night. The 3.5-inch LCD screen automatically and instantly displays the image when backing up and even though it's small enough to mount just about anywhere, I got creative with the install and mounted it inside the console on the ceiling of my Super Duty truck. This actually makes it even easier to see the screen and when I go to back up I just flip down the com- 40 PDB Mag Docking Line Buoyrope PRODUCT Application Function Durability Design Price 92 16/20 49/50 9/10 9/10 9/10 www.buoyrope.com 541-770-5667 the lake too. The rest of the time it's hidden and you wouldn't even know it was there. I really like how it turned out. AmeriCam retails at around $300 in dealerships including fitting. Most backup cameras are only available in high-end OE headunits, so this extra low price gives any vehicle owner the opportunity to join the shift towards backup safety technology. The single cable system allows the AmeriCam to be fitted in less than hour, and if you're mechanically savvy it can be a great Saturday morning project. —Brady L. Kay, PDB Editor www.pdbmagazine.com
