www.iltanet.org Management Survey Results Knowledge 2012 This is the third biennial Knowledge Management Survey conducted by ILTA's Knowledge Management Peer Group. The survey gives us the opportunity to look at trends and hot topics in the KM legal space and provides members of the peer group with information on which to benchmark ILTA KM programming. The following summarizes the results of the survey, any trends and significant changes since 2010 (and previous years). About the Survey and Respondents The survey was sent to members of ILTA's Knowledge Management E-Group and various local KM groups, and it was sent through social networking channels by several KM bloggers and tweeters. 6 ILTA White Paper We had 74 organizations respond this year, comprised of 66 law firms, 6 corporate law departments and 2 government agencies. This was a significant drop from the response rate two years ago of 141 responses. Although we had a drop in responses from all sizes of organizations, the largest drop was from organizations with fewer than 50 attorneys. This year, rather than asking about the number of offices each responding organization has, we asked how many countries in which the organization operates. While the highest percentage of respondents operate "locally" in only one country (32%), we saw a large number of international organizations with 23% in 3 to 5 countries and 26% in 6 or more countries. Results published in this white paper are for the overall survey. Results by size of organization will be published at some time in the future.
