AUTO ART CONTEST RACING VEHICLE PL AC E RACING VEHICLE After racer Karl Hewitt built an old-style chassis vehicle, he wanted a classic fi ghter jet theme to match the vintage look of the car's body, says Chad Ragan, owner of Pro Graphix/507 Wraps. To create this look, Ragan incorporated retro graphics with a patriotic fl air. "When you see the project done, everything pulls together," Ragan says. "You have the retro graphics, the retro car – it just made one complete idea when everything was said and done. It went hand-in-hand with the old-car theme." Chad Ragan Pro Graphix/507 Wraps Eagle Lake, Minn. Because of the custom nature of the vehicle, Ragan had to create his own template for this wrap, which was printed using a Mutoh ValueJet 1614 onto 3M vinyl with a laminate. Ragan did this by fi rst taking digital pictures of the various areas of the vehicle. He then measured each panel and created the templates in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop based on those pictures and metrics. "You always have to create your own template with these types of vehicles," Ragan says. "It's not like you can just pull up the Bad Wraps software and grab a template." This wrap has been so successful that Hewitt even took home the Best in Class and Best in Show awards at a recent Deer Creek Speedway car show, Ragan says. "One of Karl's goals was to win a car show just once in his life, and it felt good to help him do that," Ragan says. "One of the proudest things for me was helping him win that car show."
