46 INDIE / ROCK www.guestlist.net HERE COME THE BOMBS by GAZ COOMBS INDIE ARTIST OF THE MONTH THE ENEMY Issue 40 / 2012 Supergrass front man Gaz Coombes is back with his cracking debut solo album Here Come The Bombs. The sound of the album is a far cry from the Britpop festival goers that Supergrass were back in the 90's and invariably people are already drawing attention to his previous work. The release of this album should see Gaz Coombes re-instated as one of the great songwriters of our time, the sound on this album is much darker and more reflective than any of Supergrass's six studio EP's. Gaz was quoted saying 'I've always had a split personality and im a pretty easy going guy, but i think about things alot and have dark areas i visit occasionally'. The dark areas of Coombes life are definitely reflected right onto this blinder of an album. After taking a hot minute out to complete their debut album 'Streets in the Sky' these guys are set for a big year ahead. A stream of hype has emerged from the camp that is 'The Enemy' surround- ing the release of their new album 'Streets in the Sky'. This is their third studio album and following the success of 'We'll Live and Die in These Towns', their debut album that went straight to number one, we are expecting great things. Frontman Clarke was recently quoted saying 'we used to sing about how shit life was, now we just want to party', their new material definitely reflects their new found optimistic attitude.
