Results on the field haven't helped the Boilermakers' case on the trail, and now security questions will inev- itably surface should a dramatic turn- around not materialize early in the 2016 season. Beyond that, Purdue's breaking in a largely new coaching staff, such turn- over often bringing with it a break in continuity. Be all that as it may, Darrell Hazell and staff have found some positive early results, with a seven-man group of early commitments that includes some of the staff's top targets at im- portant positions. In late June, Purdue scored seem- ingly important wins on wide receiver C.J. Hayes, quarterback Nick Sipe and running back Antwuan Branch. While none held the highest-pro- file offer sheets, Hayes did have more than 20 and at least one Big Ten pow- er, Michigan State, pushing to keep him uncommitted, while California's Sipe could easily have held out for likely Pac-12 opportunities instead of pledging to Purdue, for which some Purdue Recruiting Roundup June commitment run brings Purdue total to seven PRESENTS: FOOTBALL RECRUITING Rivals.com C.J.
