GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 26, ISSUE 6 76 One of the NFL's biggest remaining free agents this offseason is linebacker Mike Neal, who played his first six seasons in Green Bay. But Neal, as of late June, had yet to be signed and was unlikely to remain a Packer. He should have suitors, however, especially after turn- ing in a good 2015 season in which he made 36 tackles, including four sacks and a forced fumble. He's had at least four sacks in each of the last four seasons. Part of the hold-up might be Neal's implication in an Al Jazeera America story alleging that he and other Packers were involved in the distribution of performance enhancing drugs. The NFL, as of June, was expected to interview several players about the allegation, including Neal and current Packers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers. In April, Anthony Brown kept the Boilermak- ers' draft streak alive, now up to 19 consecutive years with at least one former Purdue player selected. It took until No. 189 to continue the string, though, when Dallas took the cornerback in the sixth round. Brown is the lowest first Boilermaker taken since Joe Odom went 191st in 2003. But the Cowboys might have gotten a steal with several franchises, including Dal- las, saying they had third- or fourth-round grades for Brown. The 5-foot-11, 192-pounder joins a Dallas team that is pretty well stocked at cornerback, with a project- ed top three of Orlando Scandrick, Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne. But Brown's versatility — he played safety early in his career at Purdue — and his ability on special teams add to his value. j Brown Tom Campbell
