Horstman graduated from Hemingford (Neb.) High School and will be attending Doane University this fall, where he'll study health science. Betaseed awards annual scholarships to students to help further their college education. The scholarship committee selected Nelson and Horstman based on essays submitted on "The History and Future of Sugarbeets." www.betaseed.com Hyper-Responsive Hydraulics Help Growers DeltaForce replaces the springs or air bags on your planter with hydraulic cylinders. It automatically increases or reduces weight with military precision, on each row individually. The right down force is a hidden yield booster. DeltaForce is the down force control product that provides correct and consistent seed depth for the ideal seed environment to get you to that higher yield. It's incredibly responsive, with a down force adjustment of 5 times per second on each individual row. In a sugarbeet trial last year, DeltaForce provided a 2.3 ton/acre yield advantage compared to static down-force options. That's more than a $100/acre advantage, showing that getting the right environment for your seeds makes all the difference. www.precisionplanting.com TKI Crop Vitality Opens Research and Innovation Farm The Crop Vitality division of Tessenderlo Kerley Inc. opened a research, development and innovation farm June 1 in Dinuba, Calif. The 107-acre farm provides the Crop Vitality team of agronomists the ability to replicate a multitude of farming conditions and practices around the world. The farm houses research laboratories, greenhouses and a facility for the study of various soil types, as well as administrative offices and meeting rooms. Crop Vitality agronomists and researchers at the facility will focus on developing sustainable plant nutrients that meet the needs of high-yielding crops, while systematically gathering information to assist in answering relevant questions that face agricultural production. www.cropvitality.com for the study of various soil types, as well as administrative offices and meeting rooms. will focus on developing sustainable plant nutrients that meet the needs of high-yielding crops, while systematically gathering information to assist in answering relevant Jessica Nelson Jacob Horstman
