16 • August 2016 • S I G N & D I G I T A L G R A P H I C S 2016 EDP Award Winners Announced The European Digital Press Association (EDP) has announced the winners of their 10th annual EDP Awards competition. The EDP Award honors the best developments in print production tools, software developments, substrates, inks, materials and finishing systems. This year's winners were named during the recent drupa conference held in Düsseldorf, Germany. Out of more than 150 entries, 27 products were awarded with a trophy in its category. The EDP Association was founded in 2006 by six trade magazines with main editorial focus on digital print and produc- tion. SGP Partnership Participates at Sustainable Brands Conference The Sayville, New York-based Sustainable Green Printing Partnership, a nonprofit that provides sustainability certification in the graphics communication industry, announces its attendance at the recent 2016 Sustainable Brands conference in San Diego—what it says is the largest annual gathering of global sustainability and brand professionals. "We are pleased to once again attend this groundbreaking conference," says Lynn Krinsky, president, Stella Color, and chairwoman of the SGP Board of Directors. "The conference's commitment to walking the walk is becoming more apparent by recommending their vendors use SGP certified facili- ties. For that we are extremely grateful." She's referring to Sustainable Brands organizers recommending that all participants use SGP-certified printers to create graphics and collateral material. Ricoh Partners with EFI on Flatbed Printers Tokyo-based Ricoh Co., a manu- facturer of commercial inkjet print- heads and office imaging equip- ment, announces that it is partner- ing with Fremont, California-based EFI by adding EFI VUTEk flatbed printers to its portfolio. Added to Ricoh's AR Latex roll-to-roll Ricoh ProTM L4100 series, these new UV-curing flatbed additions will bring greater flexibility and opportunity to Ricoh clients. The announcement means that Ricoh's graphic arts offer expands further and is now a com- plementary product range encompassing flatbed, large format, continuous feed, cut sheet, software and consultancy ser- vices. The agreement will start with Ricoh selling EFI flatbeds throughout Europe and Latin America, and North America and Asia Pacific will follow after. Fulham Acquires Lumotech's LED Driver Business Hawthorne, California-based Fulham, a global manufacturer and supplier of energy efficient light- ing systems, announces a defini- tive agreement to acquire certain assets of the LED driver business of Lumotech, a European manufacturer of specialty LED products. The acquisition means Lumotech, based in Alkmaar, Netherlands, will become Fulham's new European design center. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Fulham says the acquisition will allow it to be able to offer a more exten- sive line of LED drivers to OEMs and distributors through- out Europe. Fulham also will be able to take advantage of Lumotech's existing sales and distribution channels. Gilman Brothers Partners with Vanguard Digital Gilman, Connecticut-based foam board manufacturer Gilman Brothers announces a strategic partnership with Suwanee, Georgia-based Vanguard Digital Printing Systems. Gillman has installed a Vanguard VR5D flatbed UV-cure printer at the firm's Gilman Brothers' Customer Experience Center. The addi- tion of the printer will bring greater opportunities for product testing and protyping to the Customer Experience Center, which already houses a ZÜND G3-2500 cutter. Visitors can see firsthand the printer's performance on products such as Gilman Brothers' INFINITY styrene- faced foamboard.
