SEPARATION / CUSTODY ITEM RESPONSE DOCUMENTATION Have you looked at Separation Agreement? Have you discussed Custody Arrangements? Have you made Child Support Arrangements? YOU SHOULD KNOW … If you have custody and child support arrangements made for a child it is important to discuss and determine what the arrangements will be during a deployment and incase of any unfortunate situation. While a member is deployed it is still legally required for child support to be paid. Have you made arrangements to ensure payments are made? During a deployment it is important to also have planned what visitation is going to occur. In the event of an unfortunate situation, have you discussed or legally confirmed what legal obligations are required in regards to child support and custody? This is an important matter to have taken care of prior to deployment. PASSPORT & TRAVEL CONSENT INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW… It is essential that all family members have a current passport as well as signed out-of-country and out of province travel consent letter for the children before a deployment. For children to be permitted to travel with only one parent, a letter must be signed by both parents, providing authorization to take the children out of their country of residency. You should also practice having a copy of your passport and the passports of your children, either in your home or with a family member when you travel. You can find the recommended consent letter at the following website. This letter can be used for out of province as well as out-of-country. It is always good to have a few signed copies http://travel.gc.ca/travelling/children/consent-letter **It is important that an extended family member also has a valid passport in the event of emergency and they need to go with you overseas. This will then allow you to have someone with you and your children during such time.
