46 THE WOLVERINE SEPTEMBER 2016 ferred to Rutgers after rushing for 18 yards on 10 carries last year at half- back. He played defensive back, wide receiver and running back at Michigan, but will play cornerback for the Scarlet Knights. He is a graduate transfer and eligible immediately. Logan Tuley-Tillman, OL: Kicked off the team at Michigan in the spring before the 2015 season following an arrest, he had played sparingly in a reserve role. He initially committed to Washington State, but then announced his transfer to Akron. No longer in football: Csont'e York, WR; Chris Fox, OL; Jaron Dukes, WR; and Reon Dawson, DB. ❏ 2013 CLASS OVERVIEW Players In Class: 27 Rivals.com Team Ranking: No. 5 Players Still At Michigan: 17 Name Pos. Recruiting Stars Jake Butt TE 4 Already an All-American and the Wolverines' top pass catching tight end, Butt should break school records for receptions and yardage at his position this year. Taco Charlton DE 4 Lost 10 pounds at the request of his coaches and is primed to become an outstanding pass rusher at weakside end. David Dawson OL 4 Has yet to find his way into the lineup and is running out of time. Expected to be a reserve again this year. Ben Gedeon LB 4 Was a key reserve in 2014-15 and is expected to have a breakout season in the middle of the Michigan defense. Delano Hill S 4 One of U-M's top breakout candidates on defense. He's always been a great athlete and started to become a very good football player last season. Khalid Hill FB 3 Moved from tight end at the end of last year and is expected to play a significant role as a blocker and potential pass catcher. Maurice Hurst Jr. DT 3 Is one of Michigan's better interior pass rushers and despite playing only 418 snaps in 2015, Pro Football Focus ranked him the No. 3 returning interior lineman in the country by their grading system. Patrick Kugler OC 4 Still trying to add strength and become the standout center many figured he could be out of high school. Jourdan Lewis CB 4 An All-American and a candidate for the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top de- fensive back. Mike McCray LB 4 Injuries have slowed him from reaching his potential, but he had an outstanding spring and is projected to start. Shane Morris QB 4 Is running third at quarterback and saw time at wide receiver in the spring. That could be his position this fall. Henry Poggi FB 4 The former defensive lineman shored up the H-back position last year and has pro- vided toughness to the offense. Wyatt Shallman LB 4 Still searching for a position and a way to make an impact. He's now listed as a line- backer after playing offense his first few years. De'Veon Smith RB 3 Michigan's top returning tailback and one of the toughest players on the team pound for pound. Channing Stribling CB 3 Took a huge step towards being an outstanding cover corner this spring — now he just needs to stay healthy. Scott Sypniewski LS 3 Won the long snapper job and handled it well last year; he will be the man there again this season. Dymonte Thomas S 4 Played his best football at the end of last season and has All-Big Ten potential. One of the team's better athletes. REPORT CARD — B The 27-man class of 2013 had 15 four-stars and a five-star, with an average star ranking of 3.63. Only six schools — USC (4.42), Notre Dame (3.92), Alabama (3.84), Ohio State (3.83), LSU (3.73) and UCLA (3.67) — had better. The class is starting to realize its potential with some late bloomers. Ten in the class are projected start- ers — 11 if you count long snapper Scott Sypniewski — and there are already two All-Americans among them. That's nearly half the start- ers, and there are a number of All- Big Ten candidates among them. Senior running back De'Veon Smith has paced the Wolverines in rushing each of the last two seasons, totaling 1,272 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground during that time. PHOTO BY PER KJELDSEN
