48 THE WOLVERINE SEPTEMBER 2016 fensive line before Cole in 2014 — Bubba Paris in 1978, Tom Dixon in 1980, Dean Dingman in 1987, Jus- tin Boren in 2006 and Kyle Bosch in 2013. Combined, they started nine games. Cole has started every game (25) in his Michigan career at left tackle, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten honors a year ago. He'll give center a try this year, at least to start camp. 3. Bryan Mone, DT: Mone, with one start in 2014, became the first rookie defensive lineman to start a game for Michigan since LaMarr Woodley in 2006 and the first fresh- man defensive tackle since Damon Denson in 1993. His 1.5 tackles for loss were the also most by a first-year tackle since Mike Martin recorded 4.5 in 2008, but he missed all of last season with a foot injury suffered in camp. He enjoyed an outstanding spring and appears set for a breakout season. 4. Ian Bunting, TE: Bunting is just scratching the surface of his poten- tial, but he did appear in 10 games a year ago and caught five passes for 72 yards. He'll be asked to do more this season as one of Michigan's top three tight ends among an impres- sive crop. He's got great hands and should be a weapon in the passing game. READY TO MAKE AN IMPACT THIS FALL Chase Winovich, DE: Winovich has played both sides of the ball in his first few seasons, but has finally found a home at defensive end. He's also developed a niche as a pass rusher and, according to coaches, has the chance to play on passing downs because of it. He's added 10 pounds to his frame and enters the season in excellent shape. Drake Harris, WR: Harris broke records in his senior year at Grand Rapids Christian, but injuries have set him back. He played in nine games last season and caught only six passes for 39 yards, but he's a strider with big play potential. This could be the year he realizes it … if he can stay healthy. Lawrence Marshall, DE: Marshall was mentioned early as one of the players in the class who could make an impact, but he has yet to prove it. He's appeared in only three games as a reserve defensive lineman. He has pass-rushing ability, how- ever, and at 6-4, 268 pounds can also handle himself against the run. He had an impressive spring according to coaches. Maurice Ways, WR: Another re- ceiver with big-play potential, and he showed it in the spring. Ways has caught only three passes for 40 yards, all last year in 11 games, but he's notched two starts and has im- pressed coaches with his toughness Redshirt sophomore Maurice Ways has not put up huge numbers yet at Michigan, but coaches like the way he blocks and plays with toughness.
